Learning Gurmukhi Institution will need to hire assistants with an increase in number of students.
1) Number of students: 11-30
Number of assistants: 1
2) Number of students: 31-50
Number of assistants: 2.
Number of assistants will increase by 1 with increase of 20 in number of students.
Recruitment activities: Modes of notice board of Gurdwara Miri Piri Khalsa Darbar, Instagram, Facebook, posters, Twitter and LinkedIn will be used to get qualified job applicants.
Applicants need to pass following 4 steps in order to be hired:
1) Interview
2) Written test
3) Oral exam
4) Practical exam.
Methods to retain and motivate employees: High hourly pay rate (1.5 times the minimum pay rate in BC), raise in pay rate after six-month period, appreciation in religious gatherings and rewards for better performance.
Training: Training will be provided for 4 days. Training period is short because only that applicant will be able to pass 4 stages of hiring who will have sufficient knowledge and skills required in Gurmukhi classes.
Time period of need of assistants: Assistants will be required for all batches going at that time. They will not be hired on seasonal basis.
Requirements for an assistant at Learning Gurmukhi Institute:
1) Must be eligible to be employed in Canada.
2) Must be certified to teach Gurmukhi.
3) Must have a Bachelor of Education.
4) Must be baptized Sikh (Amritdhari) following all rules of Sikhism.
5) Must wear dumalla on daily basis. (This requirement has been mentioned because baptized Sikhs wear dumalla daily and consider it as a part of their bodies.)
6) Must have considerable knowledge of Sikh history.
7) Must be able to communicate in English, Punjabi and Hindi.
8) Must be able to be patient and calm among people of all age groups, different behaviors and nationalities et cetera.
9) Must be able to read Gurbani and teach others how to read Gurbani.
10) Must be able to teach others how to tie dumalla.
Job description:
1) Teach students how to write, read, listen(understand) and speak Gurmukhi.
2) Guiding students about how to live life while following rules of Sikhism.
3) Teach students how to tie dumalla.
4) Teach students how to read Gurbani.
5) Teach students regarding Sikh history.
6) Help the instructor of classes in checking notebooks of students.
7) Increase interest of students in class activities.
8) Create calligraphy notes of Gurmukhi.
9) Help the instructor in organizing different activities.
